Crow
A conflict in the mind — Caw!
Between the spatula of feathers,
Oscilate — Nor’wester. Dust. And grammar
Notes shuffled under wings.
Black — eats up whole,
In the polythene of the belly
Yesterdays waste gurgle.
A world of microbes.
Disappearing light behind trees,
And the comets beneath —
chase a blue curtain.
Thread of jeans. Twigs. And wire mesh
Within the hemisphere of its beak,
Engineering the knots of the nest.
