The Mountain
Shuffling coal
toward luminescence
on the horse
opposed to hands
beneath soil
beneath
transmuting sand
beneath cotton
and appetite
through constricted love
of concrete
and simple sight
as the harnessing
and falling
through
loving
bending
chalk
to conscribe
through electricity
to call itself
the skull
the baseless mule
the froth
upon the wave
that takes the lead
and breathes electricity
without coal
only marrow
only arithmetic
and genealogy
sighting the numinous cloud
with cataract glass
more than a scream
a progeny
without skin
and froth
at the lips
and teeth
and tongue
love
the froth
that guides towards
the narrow trench
without wolves
and stents
along the ankle bone
taking thread
named as
God
without hands
these un-hands
as dislocated
tree roots
and sightless birds
now known
as the atavistic
pull
or
push
as condemning
or committing
towards the luminescence
made of these bone fragments
or froth
as though
the river
as though
these braying streets
narrow
as the rib cage
forming puppets
and the lisping crackle
known by
former names
scrawled upon
the temple steps
the city streets
the opened eyelids
and newborn children
and the death bed
and the pocket
un-stitched
made to believe
the stretch
the muscle
relaxing
and
moving
towards
the bell tower
towards the circular stone
and without
hope
to return
to the hut
the hovel
the cloistered fire
without
the deer
and buffalo
and ox
and mother
taking the fleece
upon the scorched back
the fat upon
the rack of wood
upon
the hecatomb
made of heated stone
and nudity
pulsating
in the narrow
the closure
from heart
to
ventricle
to
vein
blue
the kissing lips
prepared
as lung
as liver
as feet
the light does not present
the westward
the eastward
the southward
only emblems
only cartography
within
the froth
within
the clinging
skull
soon attracts the tongue
to lodge within scale
or whale bone housing
relenting
to sing
and bark
the words
cited to God
